Headline news

I will shortly be writing headlines for actual news.

And doing other stuff too, because it's, like, a Very Cool Job with Lots of Responsibilities. But still three days a week.

This is Enormously Exciting, so modesty be damned: three cheers for me! Hip hip...?

Update: first day 7 November. So now that's settled, I can spend the next four weeks letting the fear and trepidation set in. Marvellous.

En nog 'n piep? Hoera!

I think the hard bitten journo thing might suit you just fine. Are you planning to get a battered fedora any time soon? Or will this be more a Gwyneth-Platrow-in-Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow kind of look?

Dylan sweetness, I started out in newspapers, this is by way of a return to my home turf. Except, of course, that this is on a *big cool London* paper rather than [coff] City Press and The Star.

But yes, it suits me beautifully. I'll look into trenchcoats and fedoras; but bear in mind production staff generally tend more to the sloppy jeans and stained sweaters fashion trend. Ewww. I'll have to glam things up a bit around there.

Also, thank you both! :-D

Hooray! And congratulations. Good luck with the glam-up, too. Though I'm not sure what's wrong with stained sweaters. Or is it the jeans?

I considered writing 'some of my best sweaters are stained' but decided to not lie.

*All* my sweaters are stained. ;-)

One of several reasons I never wear 'em.

I thank you all. Jam, ain't nothing wrong with stained sweaters, but they're not gonna get me compared to Gwyneth Paltrow.

Hm. On second thought, I may be facing rather more of a challenge in that regard than can be fixed with a natty trenchcoat.

On third thought, who wants to be Gwynnie anyway?

As for when: please stand by for further bulletins. With luck, early November.

And Cliff, thanks; always encouraging to hear good reports of the people! Especially as I'm going to miss my cohorts round here rather badly.

Yay new job! but you don't want to be Gwyneth in Sky Captain - coincidentally, I watched that again the other night, and as usual spent the whole movie wanting to slap her.

Is it just me, or is the actual problem with her Sky Captain relationship
his homoerotic bond with Dex rather than the dishy one-eyed femme fatale?

Go you! That's fantastic news =)If not a fedora, then some other hat; the world needs more cool hats.

Crikey! A job at the Observer? How cool is that? Congratulations!

Indeed, well done! And remember that with great power comes great responsibility. And hopefully, free biscuits.

Mmmm biscuits!

Thank you all. Your applause and good wishes are most gratifying. And James, hello and welcome; I only hope this visit isn't because your lovely ladyfriend has sent you around to rebuke me for missing her birthday party...

Nooo, I am currently still just about capable of independent function...
