Alive In Joburg

"When they first landed, we noticed that they had these really fantastic biosuits..."

Alive In Joburg - Google Video
(Made in 2005; set in 1990, when apartheid was breaking down but still officially in force.)

Hat tip to strawberryfrog for the link.

Edit: Apparently the director is the same genius who made the Citroen Transformer ad. Are Saffers talented or what?

My response to this took me totally by surprise. Initially, the homages to Halo (the alien magnet grapple), V and ID4 (the huge UFOs), Lovecraft's mythos (Cthulhoid aliens) and so on amused and delighted me, but as the video progressed, the analogy struck, and by the end of it I was completely choked up, practically in tears. I'm not sure why it tugged at the tear ducts so hard, but it's probably the same root cause as most of my blackest moods; man's inhumanity at times.

*applause* for the stealth moral.

Good, isn't it. I watched it again immediately. It's so beautifully done and yes, deeply moving.

Well, from the video, I'd say "fantastic biosuits" means "looks like cool Lego space heroes".

And yes, they have names. I call them "breasts".
